Appendicitis mostly affects children’s between the ages of 11 and 20, and is rare in infants. Even it can affect in 4 year old children and causes the same damage and pain near the abdomen. Parents need to be more aware of appendix. Children may not have secondary symptoms of appendix. If they have them it’s only one or two not all in one bunch. Appendix in children mainly has stomach pain. More frequently male children’s gets appendix. The most common symptom in children is pain the lower right abdomen. A ruptured appendix is dangerous for them too, but they might be able to hold out a little longer. Early and accurate recognition of appendicitis minimizes mortality rate in children. Symptoms of appendix in children are quite similar when compared to adult. In most of the cases misdiagnosis leads to the death.

As far as treatments are concerned appendicitis in children is dealt with in the same manner as adult appendicitis. A ruptured appendix is quite serious and potentially life threatening in case of children. Doctors usually do surgery to remove the ruptured appendix in children. Children will be carefully watched during this period. Appendicitis symptoms in children even after the appendix has been removed, usually the underlying cause are the structures around the appendix, (which are not removable).which they feel like they have appendix, parents should not worry about that antibiotics can cure that and bring them back to normal. Diagnosing accurately is very important for treatment.
