PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF APPENDICTISPATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF APPENDICTIS The pathophysiology of appendicitis is the development process from a normal appendix to acute appendicitis. The pathophysiology helps in understanding the signs and symptoms as well as the complications seen in the appendicitis .In this process we can know about who the normal appendix deforms into appendicitis. Appendix is blocked by many obstructions such as fecal obstruction, food obstruction, infection etc. Because of the reduction in supply of blood to the wall of appendix it means that appendix gets no oxygen and nutrition. Therefore it means there is no sufficient supply of white blood cells. And also other natural mutants of infection found in the blood made reachable to the appendix. Intra-luminal pressure begging raised due to blockage therefore the cells present in the organ automatically starts dying. Inflammation in the organ is formed after this.
The outer wall of the appendix thus starts to break up. A normal bacterium found in the gut spreads all over the gets attached into the wall. A bacterium starts multiplying and from the luminal obstruction appendix get invaded in 36 hours. This takes place very rapidly in one to three days. During this process patient will undergo severe pain. Finally bacterial colonization takes place in the acute appendicitis. The main content of appendix are faecotith, mucus secretions and pus and these are released to the abdominal cavity, and this may even lead to peritonitis and death and pus is generally formed by the mixture of bacteria and white blood cells. Thus pathophysiology is the understanding of signs and symptoms seen in appendicitis.
